"Outside Looking In"

A Drive-Thru Art Exhibit

Drive by via bike or car

April 25 - May 31

“Outside Looking In: A Drive-Thru Exhibition” is a multimedia intro-active art exhibit featuring large scale works from over a dozen local Madison artists. Similar to interactive art, which invites the observer to "walk" in, on, and around the works, we’re inviting our audience to view from a distance and drive around the exhibition, taking in the building as a complete work of art. Our goal is for the viewer to appreciate the gaps between their observations and the reality of social distancing presented in the various works and the overall premise of the exhibition.

The exhibit has been developed with distance-viewing in mind - all work is to be viewed via car or bike, visitors are not to approach the work; but instead, drive around the exterior of the feed mill to take in the unique visual experience. “Text panels” elaborating on the artwork and artist and curator talks will be featured on Facebook and Instagram @garverevents and @garverfeedmill.

We’re committed to providing a safe, cultural community activity while supporting local artists and the small businesses at Garver Feed Mill. We look forward to filling Garver’s interior with celebrations, community events, spa days, and pizza parties again soon; but in the meantime, we hope the community will join us from the outside, looking in at an empty Garver to celebrate our creative community and take advantage of a rare opportunity to fill our facade with art!

Artists are an important part of our community and with limited projects and opportunities given the current health and safety regulations, we’d like to support them as best we can! Please give what you can, visit bit.ly/GARVERARTISTS for more information. Madison Arts Commission will match the first $1500 in donations.
